I love assasins rushing in... As a monk I can wand them down... finally an opponent I can defeat... with a pure healing build

Most relief i've had as a healer in a group with an assassin in was to find recall virtually perminantly on me, second the assassin took damage, he cancelled it and wanded next to me til he'd healed up

A whammo is your typical warrior/monk who you see all over the game advertising themselves as elite tanks. Honestly I see them die faster than casters alot of the time. They run too far away from the group most of the time and think they are invincible because they waste points for mending, vigorous spirit, and healing hands which they think make them a great tank because and I quote"I can self heal so it takes less stress off of the monks".
Thing is they all think they are elite and will refuse to listen when you tell them that if they ran armor boosters and stances they wouldnt have to heal much because they wouldnt be taking damage much at all.

hehe, this is why often times i like to run a W/Me to use physical/elemental resistance. You just need to make shure your not fighting any thing that might negate your extra armour or the negative armour you get from these stances.

Fight a good warrior and he'll wildblow your stance to oblivion
Every build has its strengths and weaknesses...wammos included. It's silly to diss a particular build just because of some poor players.

Yeah, there are a lot of entertaining assassins out there just now since its the latest fad (well, it is entertaining to watch them die, and die, and die .... lol).
I just wish people would be a bit more creative with this. Not every assassin needs to have a shadow step build and for that matter, not all of them need daggers for weapons. From what I hear, there are even some ranged builds out there that work quite well for this class.
But aside from that, if they do plan to shadow step, they need to learn better which targets are and which arent, important for them to 'assassinate' and that sometimes they might have to pull out before the target dies (I know, wild concept there lol).

for a while there i was running A/R with barrage, zealous bow, critical eye, sharpen daggers.
brought along a pet with disrupting lunge.
basically just sit at the back of the group, lobbing off fairly decent damage (lots of crits), and having plenty of energy to spam the crap out of disrupting lunge on whatever caster is scariest.
i chose to do that mainly coz there were some areas where getting into melee range was suicide.
however ive since acquired aura of displacement {e}.
and that is pure pwnage, pick an enemy, aura ss to it, kill it, double click the icon and bam! youre back where you started, do a shadow refuge to heal up and repeat.
its soooo nightcrawler i swear.

the trick to assasins is SHADOWSTEPPING this is the sole reason an assasin is useful without this ability they are just rangers that try to go melee

My A/W doesn't heavily rely on shadowsteping. I'm currently only using Viper's Defense for steping. Mostly I rely on Defensive Stance and Critical Defense (Critical strikes at 15). I usually throw on Way of Perfection before I go into the Defensive stance to gain health while i can't use skills. As long as I don't go too deep I'm fine (That being true for pretty much every PvE build). Though I do usually fend off the casters from other melee builds. I did the Temple mission today and only died once (because I got spiked by four afflicted ele's simultaneously).
Defensive Stance and Critical Defense give me a guarenteed 19 seconds of cover (though I can easily get 6-18 seconds more out of Critical Defense, provided at least 3 opponents and I'm not blinded or worse stripped). So thats 24-36 seconds of 75% to block protection easy (which is enough to survive till the recharge on Defensive stance). If I am stripped (or blinded) i'll immediately switch to vipers (or recall) and back off untill I can protect myself again).
I'm not too sure how this will hold up in the later mission, but it's fine for now. I just avoid Rangers who like to Throw Dirt, untill I have to deal with them. Not exactly sure how you would rate this build on "tankiness".

there are alot more shatter enchants for the mending and healing hands than wild blows out there. And as far as dissing all w/mos you misunderstand I am not! I have seen some truely amazing w/mos out there. Ocasionally I like to soj stance the tundra giants for fun and a few gold drops myself what I am refering to is a whammo which is used to refer to your typical subpar warrior/monk seeing as how most new warriors will choose w/mo because they think paladin yea I do lots of damage and heal myself and alot of them dont realize how ineffecient this is. there are idiots in every class just warrior seem to be more stubborn headed and want to argue instead of listen.
what you will hear or see about bad players
w/ - whammo rushes dies brags about his griffon/troll farming
r/ - typically refered to as rambos almost as bad as whammos
mo/ - you know the guy 2 heal spells, 2 prot spells, 2 smite skills no rez
me/ - cast backfire then interrupts every skill that enemy cast brags about
how fast he can spam spells
e/ - nuketanks stand in the middle of melee enemies while casting spells
they usually die before getting off the spell they cast first
n/ - dont know what to say about a bad necro there are so many ways they
could help the group
a/ - I like to call em assmos= naked whammo
rt/ - havent seen enough of these guys yet to make a decision.

Pop over ...kill it...
Pop back to your ranger buddy....
The two of you can talk about sports and stuff....
Have a pipe and a crepe....
Go kill the next bad castor that the tank can't get to....
Pop back to ranger pal, complian about how your girlfreinds whine about you playing too much guild wars....

...it's a brave new world out there . Mobs have Shove , wild blow, 20 differnt "unaviodable" attacks and all manner of degen....stances aint gonna do it...better pick up defy and endure pain if you want to stand up for long. Other wise the first group of dredge is gonna rip you a new one.

Don't you think someone completely new to the game would be fairly likely to pick one of the original core classes? Seeing as they are just as completely new as the expansion ones... no, when you see an overabundance of asns and rits, you know it's mostly old-timers (who generally should know better) checking out the new classes.
Factions learning curve (and the level you come out of monestary) is pretty steep and it's a joke they try to pass this off as a stand-alone game... and I think most people aren't buying into that either.
